This year we planted the Amazing Grey Poppy. They were as dramatic and intriguing as advertised. The Amazing Grey Poppies were truly the most haunting purple-grey hue and captivating shades of silver grey to slate blue, often trimmed with white edges.. Each Poppy was a delight to behold as they evolved from bud to pod, providing a wide array of unique color changes along the way. The petals have the look of crushed silk and crinkled tissue paper. Luminous and transparent, these delicate flowers are elegant and graceful and joyful even in their distinguished colors of mourning. These gorgeous poppy blooms were a bee and butterfly favorite, and interestingly also a preferred crash pad for an abundant daddy long leg population. The Amazing Grey Poppies grew wonderfully with our random combination of Bunching Onions, Sweet Alyssum and Chinese Asters in our newly designed front beds framing the entrance of our vegetable garden (also known as The Potager).

Amy E. Fraser is a Fine Artist, Photographer and Baker. She creates in her home studio nestled in a beautiful wildflower meadow, surrounded by enchanting wildlife, deep in a magical fairy tale forest. When Amy is not drawing, painting or sculpting she can be found wandering the forest, photographing nature, tending to her garden or practicing the fascinating craft of Sourdough baking. Amy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College.
