The Labrador Wolf by Amy E. Fraser. This is an expressive gray wolf portrait in shades of black, white, brown and gray with intelligent golden eyes complimented with an icy blue textural background.
The Labrador wolf (Canis lupus labradorius) is a subspecies of gray wolf native to Labrador and northern Quebec. It has been described as ranging in color from dark grizzly-gray to almost white, and of being closely related to the now extinct Newfoundland wolf (C. l. beothucus). It is larger than the eastern wolf, with heavier dentition and miner cranial differences, and seems to be only differentiated. It’s geographical range is presumed to be the Labrador Peninsula north of the forest region. The Labrador wolf diet consists mainly of caribou, moose, muskoxen, hares, beavers, fish as well as several species of rodents. This wolf is recognized as a subspecies of Canis lupus in the taxonomic authority Mammal Species of the World (2005).
