Description
The Purple Queen Anthias by Amy E. Fraser. This is an expressive Anthias fish portrait in shades of pink, magenta, red, yellow, blue, white and orange complimented with a Byzantine purple textural background.
The Purple Queen Anthias (Pseudanthias tuka), is also commonly referred as Yellow Striped Fairy Basslet, Amethyst Anthias, or the Sailfin Anthias. They feature a muted pink/purple body, blue edging on its fins, and a multi-colored face with a yellow chin. It is a carnivorous fish that mainly feeds on mysid shrimp and vitamin-enriched brine shrimp that helps in maintaining its magnificent color. It grows up to 6 inches in the wild. The Purple Queen Anthias is hermaphroditic, meaning all are born females, and when needed the dominant female turns into male. Though they are one of the few Anthias species that does not display sexual dimorphism.
Amy E. Fraser’s Oil Pastel Animal Portrait series is an impassioned tribute to the beauty and magic of our beloved Animal Kingdom. Fun, gestural and energetic, these vibrant animals are painted in a stylized realism that is imbued with distinctive character and personality.
