Description
The Siberian Tiger by Amy E. Fraser. This is an expressive big cat portrait in shades of orange, gold, black and white with wise golden eyes complimented with a turquoise textural background.
The Siberian tiger is reddish-rusty, or rusty-yellow in color, with narrow black transverse stripes. The body length is not less than 59 inches long. It has an extended supple body standing on rather short legs with a fairly long tail. The Siberian tiger is genetically close to the now-extinct Caspian tiger. The tiger (Panthera tigris) is the largest living cat species and a member of the genus Panthera. It is most recognizable for its dark vertical stripes on orange fur with a white underside. An apex predator, it primarily preys on ungulates such as deer and wild boar. It is territorial and generally a solitary but social predator, requiring large contiguous areas of habitat, which support its requirements for prey and rearing of its offspring. Tiger cubs stay with their mother for about two years, then become independent and leave their mother's home range to establish their own. The Siberian tiger is used in heraldic symbols throughout the area where it is indigenous. Tiger symbolism and meanings include strength, cunning, majesty, independence, and immortality.
Amy E. Fraser’s Oil Pastel Animal Portrait series is an impassioned tribute to the beauty and magic of our beloved Animal Kingdom. Fun, gestural and energetic, these vibrant animals are painted in a stylized realism that is imbued with distinctive character and personality.
