Description
Spring Wing Ding by Amy E. Fraser.
The Bug & Bloom painting series is a vibrant enchanting garden of magical flowers accented with beautiful bees, dazzling beetles, splendorous butterflies, majestic moths and delightful dragonflies.
Societies across the world from ancient to modern times have celebrated the beauty of insects in their art. Bugs have long inspired humans with their aesthetic complexity, ingenuity, life cycle, color and ornate patterns. Insects have held strong significance for numerous cultures as symbols for fertility, swiftness and activity, as representations for powerful goddesses, as icons of precision, as symbols of community and champions of underlings who achieve seemingly impossible tasks. Admittedly, our beloved bug friends have for some, invoked fear or disgust, and have historically been viewed as portents of doom, disaster, plague and destruction. Whatever one’s personal feeling for the pests, the wee beasties, the creepy crawlies… they truly deserve our greatest admiration and respect. Most importantly, insects are here to perform complex ecological roles: pollinators are essential to the life cycle of the flowering plants that are vital to the Earth’s survival. Humans also enjoy financial gain from silkworms and bees and eighty percent of the world’s population consumes insects as food and nourishment.
