Description
The Bob Squash Escape in Late July. Winter Squash Vine Detail. The Butternut Winter Squash plants were all fondly referred to as Bob. The “Bob” seeds were collected from an enormous haul of Butternut Squash we grew in a different location over a decade ago. When scrounging through the big box of Garden paraphernalia this past spring I found a little plastic snack bag of squash seeds that didn’t look very promising. I thought, why not, let’s try them. Well much to my surprise they grew, and they grew fast! They grew so large and took up so much space that they eventually became like family members, so of course we named them Bob. We became attached and rather invested in Bob’s life process. Well, as you can see, they made us so proud. They loved their new outdoor home in the terraces and spread like crazy. Overall we were able to harvest around 30-40 Butternut Squash from the two beds starting in late July, that total is ours, not counting the Bob babies the critters chewed on or ran off with into the forest.
The Victory Garden collection is presented as a photo diary of Amy E. Fraser’s vegetable gardening journey during the 2020 pandemic. All works in collaboration with Mother Nature, combining Art, Agriculture, Landscaping and Adventure!
