The Curious Koala by Amy E. Fraser. This is an expressive Koala portrait in shades of black, white, gray and blue with inquisitive warm brown eyes complimented with a burnt orange textural background.
The koala or koala bear (Phascolarctos cinereus) is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. It is the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae and its closest living relatives are the wombats. The koala is found in coastal areas of Australia’s eastern and southern regions, inhabiting Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. It is easily recognizable by its stout, tailless body and large head with round, fluffy ears and large, spoon-shaped nose. The koala has a body length of 24 to 33 inches and weighs an average of 9 to 33 pounds. The Koala’s fur color ranges from silver grey to chocolate brown. Koala’s are prominently featured in Aboriginal religion and mythology. The name Koala is an Aboriginal word.
