Societies across the world from ancient to modern times have celebrated the beauty of insects in their art. Bugs have long inspired humans with their aesthetic complexity, ingenuity, life cycle, color and ornate patterns. Insects have held strong significance for numerous cultures as symbols for fertility, swiftness and activity, as representations for powerful goddesses, as icons of precision, as symbols of community and champions of underlings who achieve seemingly impossible tasks. Admittedly, our beloved bug friends have for some, invoked fear or disgust, and have historically been viewed as portents of doom, disaster, plague and destruction. Amy E. Fraser is a Fine Artist, Photographer and Baker. She creates in her home studio nestled in a beautiful wildflower meadow, surrounded by enchanting wildlife, deep in a magical fairy tale forest. When Amy is not drawing, painting or sculpting she can be found wandering the forest, photographing nature, tending to her garden or practicing the fascinating craft of Sourdough baking. Amy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and a Masters of Arts and Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College.
